In a distressing incident at Dumka Central Jail, an undertrial prisoner made a suicide attempt on Sunday by cutting the veins of his throat and hands.
The prisoner, identified as Mohammad Ahmed Ali (33 years old), has been urgently transferred to the prisoner ward of the Medical College Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Sunday morning while all the prisoners were engaged in their assigned tasks. Taking advantage of the situation, Mohammad Ahmed Ali used a sharp object to inflict severe cuts on the veins of his neck and both hands.
Alerted by nearby prisoners witnessing the distressing act, the jailer was immediately informed. The entire jail team rushed to the scene and swiftly transported the prisoner to the prisoner ward of the hospital for immediate medical attention. However, his condition continues to be critical.
